BBC Pundit Danny Murphy Tells Everton Fan “He won’t be getting his benefits, they’ve caught him” after goal celebration live on Match of The Day.
Former Liverpool player Danny Murphy made a quirky remark live on Match of the Day which may of got him in a bit of bother with the people of Merseyside when he said live on air that an Everton Football Club fan would not be receiving his benefits next week after his goal celebrations whilst using crutches were mocked on air.
Murphy who moved to his boyhood club in 1997 was a pundit during Match Of The Day’s live coverage of Friday night F.A Cup derby clash between Liverpool and Everton F.C.
Murphy’s comments came in post match analysis when zoomed in footage of a football fan was seen giving his best attempts to join in the celebrations after Sam Allardyce’s side scored an equaliser at Anfield.
Sharp-eyed viewers caught video footage of comments on mobile phones, the remarks have been published on social Twitter.

Danny Murphy was a crowd favourite during his time at Anfield which seen him play his part in the 2001 cup treble as well as the winning goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford on three occasions in with the games all ending 1-0.
Murphy who played for the reds 170 times also scored in a Merseyside derby and was very happy with the 2-1 win for Liverpool tonight which was secured by an 84th minute winner from new £75 million centre back Virgil Van Dyke who netted the late winner on his debut after Sigurdsson’s equaliser, 68, cancelled out James Milner’s opener from the spot before half time.
Murphy’s made co-pundits Peter Reid and Alan Shearer, along with host Gary Lineker look uneasy in their seats as the former Crew, Tottenham, Fulham and Blackburn midfielder made his DWP joke after the game.
It is not yet clear if Danny Murphy has anything further to comment after other twitter users branded his actions disappointing.
Not nice to hear Danny Murphy assuming a man with crutches is obviously on benefits due to him being in Liverpool….Thanks Dan.And I’m a red!!!!😉😉😉

Danny Murphy making benefits jokes about a fan with crutches just because he has celebrated a goal @BBCSport @GaryLineker poor that. Great coverage of a decent cup game spoilt by outdated judgemental comments about a bloke he has never met. Disappointed.

#LIVEVE Did Danny Murphy really just say that? What a clown. It was a stereotype, and implied that someone he didn’t know was a benefits cheat.
