Sky Bet odds on Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann signing for Liverpool F.C in the January transfer window dropped to 7/2 with the Merseyside club now favourites to sign him ahead of arch rivals Manchester United at 14/1.

The price drop sent the Liverpool transfer rumour mill into another change-by-the-minute frenzy with some fans greeting the news with excitement yet others were more critical with one fan sarcastically suggesting he would perform an outrageous live sex act on himself if the Frenchman signed for the reds.

The shock and awe response was posted on Twitter as a debate broke out over the chances of Liverpool F.C pulling off such a coup in the transfer market in the wake of selling Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona this week.

News outlets have jumped on the bandwagon and suggested £89 million would be the fee needed to seal an emphatic swoop matching Griezmann’s reported release clause.

The Liverpool F.C minute by minute meltdown has become a feature of transfer windows in recent years with fans swaying from one emotion to the next, the Anfield faithful may be about to move on to Demarai Gray, the latest player to be linked in typical whirlwind fashion.

Reports in The Times suggest a £45 million deal for the Leicester City forward is being lined up with most fans all expecting a bid for Riyad Mahrez.

It is yet to be seen if any of the players linked this winter will sign but the chance to play with Roberto Firmino may be a sweetener in any negotiations with Griezmann as he has shown his admiration for the Brazilian in the past.

With other fans suggesting Sky Sports have conflicting interests when posting news about transfer targets and operating a betting service which is fueled by speculation using their well known media platforms the question is this just a betting stunt or a genuine link?
